More History: It is believed that Garash Cake was created by the Austro-Hungarian confectioner Kosta Garash who arrived in Bulgaria in 1885. He managed one of the Grand Hotels in the city of Ruse located next to the residence of Prince Alexander Battenberg where notable guests of the time were received, such as Romanian King Carol II, Serbian Milan Obrenovic, and Swedish Oscar II. He created his famous cake for these high-ranking guests
